I recently found this primitive cabinet on craigslist. I saw it listed in my small town and thought I'd go take a look since I didn't have to drive far to see it. She listed it for $250 which I knew I couldn't afford. But still I had to see it.
I asked her what her rock bottom price would be on it and she said $115. Needless to say here she sits in our family room! I wasn't givin' her up for that price.
She even gave me the gallon of off white paint she had used to paint it. It had some crayon on it and looked a little rougher than I was going for so I gave the entire piece a fresh coat of paint. Then I used Ralph Lauren Tobacco Glaze in the creases It only had two knobs when I bought it. They were wood and one was broken. So I added the knobs I picked up at Hobby Lobby for 50% off. I decided to add different knobs on the drawers than the doors.
I love it!!!!
That cabinet was meant to be there!!
ReplyDeleteOh wonderful! I like how you did unmatchy knobs!
ReplyDeleteOMG. What a treasure!
ReplyDeleteLOVE that cabinet, and love what you have done to make it so awesome.
WELL DONE!!!!!
So pretty! and not over-done on the glaze. It looked like natural wear and age to me!
ReplyDeleteGood job. (some pieces just seem over done to me) not yours {wink}
