I really needed a couch table and I didn't like how the table leaves covered the pretty legs so I removed the leaves, hinges and extra legs. It took about an hour and a half to sand it down really well. Then I glued this wood scrolly cut-out to the front and gave her two coats of black paint. I loooove the way it turned out. Now I will have to come up with a project for the extra legs and leaves.
I think this looks terrific, and I'm guessing that the old table herself feels pretty darned glamorous in her new Little Black Dress!

You're right. I probably wouldn't have had the guts to paint over the cute green color, but the "new" black table is pretty adorable too.

ReplyDeleteAhh I think it is wonderful. Anytime you can take something and repurpose it into a new love is good. My dad has heart attacks everytime I paint over oak but I say- it wasn't getting love then. Now she is loved.

Beautiful transformation! Perhaps you can create some kind of pop-up table that works like a drop leaf table attached to the wall? Or leave it stationary for a built in feel? A place to jot notes in the kitchen...fold clothes in the laundry...a vanity in the bathroom? Thank you for sharing!
